What is Dry Stone Walling?
Dry stone walls are hundreds of years old. They line the country side and there are over 5,000 miles of dry stone walls in the Yorkshire dales alone. They are free standing with no mortar, compression from the weight of the stone and a tapering from the bottom to the top forces the wall to remain stable and when built correctly they can last many, many years. Watson stonework can build new and restore old walls and even build features to your own designs. We can advise you and help bring your ideas to reality.
Some of our features have been seen on tv. Badminton Horse Trials contacted us to build a new feature jump at the quarry section of the three day event course. Working closely with Hugh Thomas we created a new dry stone wall feature. It’s part of three jumps that link together to create a stunning and challenging approach for the horse and rider.
Dry stone walling can transform any part of you garden. From features to ornamental projects. From moon gates to arches we can build you a stunning feature and all in beautiful Cotswold stone.
